Day 3: Fitness

I slept in today, and thought about doing a set before work, but didn't have time for a shower. But isn't rest really important when you're trying to get fit? Heck, yesterday I couldn't even finish a single set...I was just making sure I could finish when I tried again today *suuure*

After work, put the kids down for a nap. Thought about doing another set, but really, who wants to spend precious quiet time exercising?!

Curly woke up screaming (nightmare?) so I brought her into the livingroom before she could wake the others up. We snuggled for a bit, but after a while nothing seemed to comfort her anymore. I decided it might make her laugh if I did my workout. After-all she missed my attempt yesterday.

40 jumping jacks - she's not even looking at me, don't think this is helping
I'm super lazy, so to minimize the number of times I have to get down and back up I decided to hit squats next.
20 squats - burning! fire! legs! now I know why they have you space it out with the crunches
30 crunches - around number 18, Curly runs over to the couch, buries her face in a cushion and starts bawling. Ok...since I'm laying here so comfortably on my back, come snuggle. A few minutes later it's clear she's not going to calm down. Time for the day's first food bribe...'Want some goldfish?' Nothing like some orange fish to make the curls bounce. While I'm on the floor, just let me quick get in my pushups.
10 pushups - I think I modified the modification, but at least I tried.

Time for Curly's snack!

Later, after supper, hubby had to go to school orientation, so I decided to sit on the couch with the kids and watch some 'Phonics Farm'. Hmm...I could work out to some toddler tune music I guess. I rush through one set trying not to think about the fact that I'm exercising. Half way through the pushups I get to witness Tiny sit up on her own for the first time! I mean...she's sat up on her own a few times in the last week, but I've never got to see the entire process before. Then the big kids notice what I'm doing and decide to do pushups too! Well if the kids are going to join in, I guess I could maybe push through another set.

40 jumping jacks - Curly is definitely my child, she quits after about 5 jumps...Specs sticks it out to 11 or so before getting distracted by something shiny
20 squats - Curly doesn't really get these and Specs is still distracted
30 crunches - Oh shoot....should have seen this coming...Curly attempts to leap onto my belly a few times before finally settling on sitting on my feet....hey this makes things much easier! Maybe I can hire her to be my spotter
10 pushups - the kids all get in on this...even Tiny! Too cute to see us all doing pushups together (or in Tiny's case...downward dog)

Well...My goal is to get to 5 sets a day. I've done 3 today and I'm definitely starting to feel sore. Tempted to attempt a 4th set, but shouldn't I take things slow? I mean...I'm just getting started on this whole 'fitness' thing right?  More tomorrow.

Total: 3 sets for potentially 300 calories burned!
